Julie Alonzo-Calteaux

Ms. Alonzo-Calteaux was proclaimed by the Chicago Suntimes as “A comic flourish that sings beautifully” in her debut of Jerry’s Girls at the Royal George Theater in Chicago. Comfortable with Theater, Musical
Theater and Opera, Julie was given the opportunity to receive her Masters degree in Vocal Performance at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts where she has performed such roles as “Florence Pike” in Britten’s Albert Herring, “Dame Quigley” in
Strauss’s Der Rosenkavlier and “Emma Jones” in Weil’s Street Scene.

Her professional appearances include Puccini’s “Principessa” in Suor Angelica, and “Zita” from Gianni Schicchi performed at the Teatro di San Cassiano, the “Witch” in Hansel & Gretel, the “Marquise” in La Fille Du Regiment with Milwaukee Opera Theater and “Mary” in Firstage’s debut production of The Little Drummer Boy. Her favorite
role isn’t operatic but is the dramatic lead role of Veronique in a Midwest Premiere of Wes Craven’s Frankenstein in Love and received the honor to perform for Thomas Hampson at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Most recently Julie recorded the newly commissioned art song Remembrance for the Luxembourg Consulate. She will be
performing Remembrance for the Consulate in New York the summer of 2011. She is currently producing a new program for high school students called “The Musical Blue Print Project.” Ms. Alonzo-Calteaux resides in Milwaukee WI with her husband Bill and hosts an annual Multiple Sclerosis Benefit, “Performing for a Cure”, as half of the
performing duo “A Soprano and A Piano.”
